Hello and good morning, I am really interested in acquiring the plans and building my own class 5.80. Therefore, I have read the specification, class rules and class registration carefully. There is only one additional point I would like to know. Is it allowed to make a hull and deck prototype according to the CNC plans in order to make a mould from the prototypes? Which enables you/me to make the body by vacuum infusion of glassfibre-reinforced plastic? And also, to get this body accepted at the Class Registration? Many thanks RoVr

NO...the design is specifically for Amateur built boats and ONLY from Timber Epoxy glass....An armature after buying the plans can build his boat the way he wants..just one...but if he wants to get Globe 5.80 Class Certification it must be built to the plans Spec...not one-off with different materiel...but anyone could build their own one-off anyway they like and go voyaging any time they want and if you want one like you describe your choice...but you cannot build more than one and it could not race as a class 5.80 boat or event.. All the best....

PRODUCTION GLOBE 5.80. ON a separate NOTE...we have discussed the possibility of developing a Glass Production Globe 5.80 to supply to those who do NOT want to build a 5.80 themselves. This decision will not now take place until the current Globe 5.80 is sailing as a fleet and the potential demand for a production Glass Globe 5.80 is assessed. If a Production version was introduced it would Race as a separate Production Class...in the same events...

Thank you very much, that is a good clear statement. I will build my Globe 5.80 with the CNC-kit and Okume Timber Epoxy glass. And maybe later there will be the possibility to participate in the PRODUCTION GLOBE 5.80.
