Thanks for the efforts putting all this together and in principle there are some great suggestions there....BUT...in reality...the MGR is a classic adventure on a grand scale and while I know it will be a sell out...only the best of the best with real passion are going to make the start....so we must keep it simple and yes it is competitive but the ones with passion will be starting right now. Yes it may disadvantage some who have not got the money...but that is the reality of how life works...sad but true and they have time to find the money, or sell the car, or other boat, house or?? ( but many will not...they will just say they do not have the money) and there will be other opportunities. Same with women. I would love to see the fleet be 50% women but it will not be cause they are not as passionate as men and there are a lot less of them around. The whole idea of shipping in a 20ft container is to allow boats to be anywhere for any events. Some will and some will not....but the event is open to all and we put it on and lets see who turns up....I doubt we will be swamped with entries, I just know there will be plenty so lets wait and see what happens.. we will only be allowing MAX of four entrants from any one country. BY the middle of Next year the sailors around the world will know about the MGR so most entrants who want to do it, at that point will make the start...but only if they are driven to do it with extreme passion ...my final rule of thumb is....KEEP IT SIMPLE ....I like first in best dressed myself.. all the best for now. ...and as an example...our www.OceanGlobeRace.com is basically Full after just two Press Releases over a year ago and we are three years from the start!!!

Don, I might be over-thinking it. Can't argue with keeping it simple. And first in best dressed is as simple as it gets. If you're motivated enough, you can get a hull built out fast.

Hi Don, I've written a Wikipedia entry for the Mini Globe Race (it's in review before it gets published, which can take a while). I'd like to add the preliminary course map, but they can only be uploaded by the copyright holder.
If you are interested, there are 2 ways to get the course map image on to the wikipedia page would be:
1) after the page is published, you (as copyright holder) could upload the image. 2) you (as copyright holder) could upload the image to wikimedia commons, and from there I can add the image to the Wikipedia page before it publishes.
Uploading an image to either location requires agreement with these terms:
This is my own work I attest that I own the copyright on this file, and agree to irrevocably release this file to Wikimedia Commons under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license, and I agree to the Terms of Use.
I suppose option 3) would be to assign the copyright to me, and I could upload it, but I don't think that's a great idea.
Cheers, Daniel

Existing 5.80 plan holders have an early bird opportunity to place an entry in the 2024 MGR before the Sept. 1st opening of entries..the Pre-Notice of Race and entry forms are now on the 5.80 website..so far we have 13 entries as of today. The fleet will be restricted to 30 who cross the start line. Looks like it may fill up eventually and if it does we will have a waitlist. WE know how this will play out. It is three years out from the start. Many things happen in life both personal and business between today the start, so some who join today may not make the start. If you really want to make the MGR which is going to be an amazing adventure...then forget about the 30 max limit and just get started and make the decision...even if you are no. 10 or even 15 on the waitlist..if you hold the passion, keep building and preparing your boat and you...you WILL MAKE THE START!!,....passion is everything in life and we understand that. So good luck!! .... The world will be watching this amazing race!!
