Hi everyone
does anyone know whether it is allowed to advertise sponsors on the boat or on the sails?

Hi..yes you can and you will find the specific details in the Notice of Race for each event when they are posted. It increases your entry fees by 50% if you are sponsored for official Globe 5.80 events....good luck.

The reason you pay extra if you have a sponsor is that you are advantaged by the commercial benefit of the event so it helps to keep overall costs down...so think of it as the Corinthians are actually just getting it cheaper....Usually it is double the entry fees for sponsored entrants but we make it as cheap as we can for the Globe 5.80 and it is only a small help but a valuable contribution for the event...thanks

Hi Don, further to the sponsorship does the price go up if you have any form of sponsorship? Ie if I had someone who is willing to do the labour and supply some of the solar panels etc, would this be considered to trigger the extra fee requirement? Or does it trigger as soon as you put a name on the boat? Cheers

I believe he covered this in the last monthly update video: It becomes sponsorship as soon as the provider mentions it in media. I.e. if someone volunteers labor, that is not sponsorship. If it is a boat builder (or other business) and they post about it on social, then it is sponsorship.

I.e. if someone volunteers labor, that is not sponsorship. If it is a boat builder (or other business) and they post about it on social, then it is sponsorship. I could have put that more clearly: Help given becomes sponsorship when that help is used for commercial benefit. Any sponsorship is no longer Corinthian and pays the higher entry fees. Per Don's last video update.

Cheers Hi...you can have people help you and give you cash or free products etc...and that is not sponsorship...BUT...as soon as you or they the supplier promote that support or mention that support...that is sponsorship and you would need to pay the sponsor suppliment...you pay it only once and can then have as many sponsors as you like...but any sponsorship...even from just one supplier will make you sponsored....promotion means in any media, social media, web, or blogs company advertising etc....if your not sponsored your a Corinthian and in the bigger events there will be a trophy for first Corinthian entry. good luck..
