What transducer are you guys running? Plastic thru hull transducers aren’t recommended for wood hull boats due to their tendency to swell which can crack the housing. I know the wood in our boats isn’t in contact with the water but I’d assume at least minor swelling and such from humidity? I’m planning on all marelon sea cocks, ball valves and thru hulls, otherwise no other metal below the waterline aside from the obvious stuff. I would rather not use a bronze transducer. Ideally I want to run an Airmar p319. Cheers everyone! Josh hull #157

Hi Josh, I will be using a plastic thru-hull transducer. Brand and type not selected yet. The shrinking and swelling of wood is minimized in plywood, so I have no concerns about that. Anyway, I drilled a rather big hole for the transducer and filled it up with expoxy that is reinforced with chopped fiberglass ritht before laminating the hull. So in the end it will be sitting in all fiberglass environment. Cheers! Christian
