Hello, everyone, I’m a new member on here and today I ordered my plans. I’m not new to boat builds or carpentry but I do have a lot of questions about how I want to go about this build. My concerns are, do I want to register the boat and of course follow the build guidelines so it can be qualified to race or not? I doubt I will ever race the boat but what about selling it in the future and the next owner? I’m thinking setting it up for a little cruising etc. But there’s plenty of time for that, but I just wanted to say Hello , I’m from the U.S. in the Ohio/Michigan area on the Great Lakes.

Hi As some others members will tell you ; un fortunatly you will not have many advises here ... the forum is avery very quite place ! only very few members visiting and posting !!! Forum seems have been used years ago when Class globe was launched but since 2021 it's very very "quite" !!!! Better to post our question on builders face book page and Fan facebook page so you could may be have an advise from THE BOSS ..... Good luck with your built ; Are you starting from a kit or alone from drawings ?
Personal advise is to follow minimum rules to get your hull registred ; choice of homologated plywood , buy stainless kit to get registred number plate , then when achieved hull you are in time to follow with all remaining rules but since then the hull will have an acceptable resale value

Thank you for the heads up about the Facebook group, I will check it out. At this point I was hoping I could get a set of CNC files and cut the parts myself. But I’m not having much luck finding out wether getting the files is something that’s a possibility or not, I’m getting some mixed answers, I think I could save myself a lot of time and money doing it myself. But I may just go the route with B&B’s plywood kit. I hear good things about their product.I just can’t see paying $800 to have it shipped 12 hours aWay. Either way I am looking forward to starting this build and will enjoy it whatever I decide.

From what I was reading on others threads ; it's not possible to get the CNC files for builders in country where there is already a Kit supplier .. so it's the case for you .......

Hello Shayski, Hey there ! Welcome to the "580 family" ! I am fairly close to you geographically being that I completed my build on the north shore of Lake Superior. B&B would be the supplier for you as Don wont sell the CNC file to someone that is living in a country where the kit is offered. I have only heard good things about B&B quality etc. I would build to specifications and have the boat registered so that it would ultimately be worth more money if you decide to sell. I would be available to chat sometime through Facebook Messenger if you have some questions - look me up - Dan Turk or Little Bea Sailing Adventures Cheers Thank you for the heads up about the Facebook group, I will check it out.
