In the Plans, the mast is constructed in 2 pieces with a coupling collar. All will fit in the 20ft container if you use that feature.

We decided NOT to make the pull appart sleeve for the mast compulsary for the 5.80 Class. Details to make the sleeve are in the Plans along with all mast fittings if you decide to build your own mast. The sleeve is optional but a very cool feature. Then the longest peice is under 5meters so you can keep the boat and mast in a shed. It will not take long to undoo all the screws and pull the mast into two sections, but it usually would only be done twice a season. Pulling the keel off is a similar deal and then remove pins on the rudder and same with the bowsprit and your ready to load in a 20ft container. If you can get a 40ft containe with two you will both save about 25% on shipping, so we will all be talking to each other on events and try to buddy up. For the Globe 5.80 Transat (expressions of Interest now open) we are trying for heavily subsidize shipping or even free for the first few entries..but NOT yet confirmed ...TRYING HARD..
