As a newby and trying to read as much as I can about what others have been started , done and achieved their own built I have been surfing a lot since one month into quite all builders blogs ( Iwas able to open ) I discovered that from the beginning fantastic start in 2020 to 2021 all builders followed strictly compulsory way to write their own blog ; there are now something like 190 number of set plan and now if you visit all avaible one's there are very very few that ( built started from2020 and 2021) are updated so you can understand how those boat have been finished ? So am wondering ; This updating is not done 1/ it too boring ( or too much work involve) to do because of too much works in process to achieve projects 2/ projects on hold for watever reasons 3/ lost of interest after building a few steps 4/ rule build log do not ask to show the finished project seems also that since end of 2021 beginning 2022 this very interesting Forum ( so helpfull for future beginners) is very quiet ................ Are they others reasons why with such an chalenging project more than 80/100 builders are not "posting" their progress to show the finished boat , Launch or watever final step ? As said on another thread ;am I missing something ? Apologise for may be, many english writing mistakes !!!

IMO, From what i noticed blogs were not completed for first transat race as getting boats to the start line trumped getting data onto blogs, that was just reality at the time. It would be great if blogs that are not active (links that do not work) could be coloured code or have a *** at the end to let you know not to click on them. I do think before handing over certification at this time blogs should meet the minimum requirements as laid out when we brought the plans or drop the requirements to post a blog and require a document package for review covering the same points for certification. Forum not being that active is in part due to the amount of questions that have already been answered. It is some times difficult to find an answer and your never sure its the correct or final answer but most information is here, facebook builders group also has some good Q+A, advantage of facebook being you can see who is asking and answering, allowing you to weight the quality of the information. To get more update information follow each builder on their social media, most of us that are still building post regularly. Its way easier and frankly more rewarding to do a reel on insta with some sweet back ground music and get a 1000 views than write a blog post which gets 1 view, namely your dad because you told him to go have a look at it. . I think most of us still check in here just many do not comment.

Thank you for replying I agree with you on every point ; am actually since 4 weeks reading each blog very attendivly and carefully to get a complete library of what have been done etc I am doing also a list of those with broken links or even cancelled blog by owners ( there are few ) of course I undertsood that so many questions or issues have been "surveyed " by the past so am reading everyday all threads twice !!!! Am an old fashion builder ( 76 years old after building more than 55 racing cars and one composite 47 foot transat sailboat!!) so I will push myself in joining facebook and instagram stuff ( Houla la la la)LOL What I was expecting at beginning since in love of this nice 580 and joining the forum : was to find many French builders and may be one near my place to offer friendly my skills for a while before to be involve into my own project !!!!! Halas seems they are only 2/3 of those and are very far or just achieved and sailing!!

I can tell you that boat building involves many conditions and life can change quickly. Marriage, children are born, illnesses, job loss, supply chain crisis, bitcoin down etc. There are so many reasons why such a great project get stuck. You need for this project a lot of money, time to build, a workshop, good tools, many skills, goodwill from your family….. I think it is normal that self-build boats even the small ones are realized overall only 10%. As has often been written, the most difficult thing about the Transat is getting the boat ready to the start line. So a big compliment to the colleagues who managed to finish it. Lucky you guys. An approximate overview of the build progress within the class can be found in this table docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DMW3jd4XtV3NWXTjK4c2vc9iSc0YHGLtFgJhuS4K_h4/edit#gid=0I'm also surprised that few French builders are there. It seems that the Mini 6.50 is more attractive to the French sailors and the ClassGlobe 5.80 is more destined for the rest of the world. The ClassGlobe is a special class not only for sailors but also for do-it-yourselfers. Maybe building things yourself is not popular in France? But for sure! Many boats are more advanced in build process than it appears in the web.

Hi Thomas You are absolutly right on all your remarks ( have been experiencing all this during my life !! so many self built projects on hold due to people starting with out planing seriously the project in their private life ,in boats and also in car kit ,plane kit ) The one's who finished the boats are like you are not lucky they are well organised and they plan strickly their own life to this particualr scope so , Bravo to them !!! I have been using the famous list you posted but it's quite obsolete ( many blogs are down or on hold since long time) there is an longer updated "builder list" on the Class Globe site where there are blogs until number 190 .....https://classglobe580.com/builders-blogs/ scroll on bottom of the page So actually may be about 6/7 finished and sailing to 190 ?? could be less than 4% !!!!! At a time France was one of the countries where self built boats was really very common so this why I cannot understand why there are so few projjects in there and so few numbers of drawings set sold seemms there where 3 ... one is sailing one is on hold ? and one blod is down totaly Yes Probably Mini transat and 650 class is prefered but cost to built or buy one is twice ? I have been on your's and congratulations !!! very good and neat worK Shame i am living so far !!! i would be very very pleased to give you friend !!! Welding stainless stuff , doing electricty harness etc etc !!!!!! I am living in a atlantic sea side town where there are very famous racing boats builders doing carbon fiber giants ( Multiplast and many more)and there is a great bay to test small boats like yours !!!!! Think about for testing LOL Bon courage pour votre projet !!

My 580 project and blog (hull #4) fell victim to covid layoffs, a couple heart attacks (me), and now cancer (wife). I did recently delete my personal site to revamp it as we are starting to "reboot" our lives INCLUDING a hoped-for restart of the 580 project. Not sure the races will be in my future, stupid half-dead heart, but I really hope that I can use the boat for the intended purpose. There's a lot of water right our my front door.
