Anyone have any advice on how to obtain this certification living in the USA? I am having difficulty finding anywhere that offers a course for this here. Thanks!

I’ve seen those options and I believe any Proficiency in Medical Care courses require an elementary first aid pre requisite that has to be considered as well.

Hey Dan, actually the US sailing safety at sea certification is also required so I had planned on doing that one already. The stcw cert is, living in the US, the highest hurdle I’m going to have to overcome to enter a race.

Hi, I have spoken to Don on this previously and there was discussion that this STCW 95 A-VI/4-2 was going to be amended / may not be required. I was going to hold off until this was determined as its a challenge getting this done where I am in Aus also. Cheers

Thanks Dan, I hope that does come around. I can get the A-VI/1-3 pretty easily though a wilderness medicine course here in Washington but it seems like the 4-2 is more of a certification for professional mariners like merchant marines or cruise ship watch leaders.
