I'm looking to build a Globe 5.80, but i do own a DIY 4x8ft cnc i built a few years back. is there a way to get a cad/dxf file with the plans so I can CNC some of the parts. also I'm in Arizona, USA and there are no sources of 9mm marine ply, i did find some 3/8 would this be ok to use for a certified build. Also where can i find more info on the requirements for the certification, log etc i cant seam to find anything on the website or even where to buy the plans.
Will the be a USA basid race or group?

Hi cnc ninija. Three little bars on main webpage top right open up a drop down menu to buy plans.
CNC file for USA is licensed to BnB yacht designs but you need a hull number (buying plans) before they can cut it for you. They sell a kit with plywood and stringers. I'm up in Canada and due to no licensed provider of CNC kits I was able to purchase the one time use file and have it cut by a third party. I would have brought the BnB kit if I was in the USA, they know what they are doing.
There are still other things you can use the CNC for in the build. Keel, mould for keel bulb, rudder shape, keel floor timber profiles.
From my searching there is no 3/8" marine grade plywood. Its all 9mm. The distributors just call it 3/8" as that's what the North American customer is searching for. If you buy your own plywood make sure it meets the requirements listed on the website and builders update. There is not many manufactures who meet the requirements.
Standards: Meets the requirements of EN 13986:2004+A1 and BS 1088-1:2003

Dan hull 20 in Thunder Bay Ontario is keen for us to come do some races on great lakes. There is at least two complete boats and one boat build moving fast on the west coast. So probably some thing out there at some point would make the most sense. Not sure if it will be as part of larger race or just 5.80s.

The CNC file is only used for the kit from authorised agents....and the Class does not approve any boat built for another CNC file as it is important they are all exactly the same....Thanks and good luck!  |

Hello,
me and my team are planning to start build Globe 5.80, so one of my team members can take participation in the Class Globe 5.80 events.
I have a question about CNC plan/files. We are located in Macedonia, so there is no near by registered provider of CNC kit. Is there any way/option, when purchasing plans paper plans, to obtain the CNC files as well?

For the cutting the profile or doing the shaping?
The cutting DWG file is in the shared google drive folder.
Watch the shaping DWG file as it’s not scaled correctly.

I believe for both the cutting and the shaping. They quoted me a price and said that if I want to move forward that I need to provide a cad file. I already sent them the DWG file from the google drive.

The guys who cut mine converted the dwg. File. I’ll ask if they will send it to me.

I have the cutting file .prs and .qpr for the two keel plates. I’ll email them to you. Not going to post a link as I’m not sure if original drawing is protected under our licence to build. No guarantee this is what they need I think it depends on the code the CNC machine is using. (Not my area or expertise)
