What brand or model is the preferred electric outboard? Is self charging mandatory or optional?

Hi, in one of Dons tour video he stated there was going to be a change on the electric outboard requirements, so wait for that or email Don. Right now Don is running e propulsion, they are also a sponsor. That’s for a class race, no requirement for a motor for class registration as far as I know. There is a few with gas outboards already as well.

It makes a nice neat installation without the weight penalty on the stern. The so called POP Drive units. www.epropulsion.com/pod-drive/Thanks

The boats are already pretty draggy. Hauling a "sail-drive" permanent unit would be quite a speed penalty. As far as I know, no one used the outboards for anything other than getting in and out of moorings, and then still had some trouble pushing the boats directly upwind in more than a medium breeze.
