Hi there i am using the materials list on the website to get an estimate on how much all the materials add up too, does anyone know the sizes for the oak parts and of sawn timber (pine, larch) parts so i can ask the local wood supplier for an estimate. Other question is how many screws (4x30 and 5x50) are there in a Kilo, i can not order stainless screws per kilo have to order them multiples of 100 or 500.
Thank you

Hey dutchsailor, This is what I have used for estimates. The pine numbers will give you plenty for wastage and extras you might need. The screws might be a bit short but time will tell. The White Oak are the finished dimensions so it depends on what is available in your region in terms of thicknesses.
4x30 screws - 2500 5 x 50 screws - 1000 Pine - 130 board feet White Oak - 60mm x 70mm x 1100mm long +or - x 5 pieces Plywood - as per spec on website or B & B Yachts Kit video
I hope that sheds some light on your question.

Captdan down in little ole NZ we measure wood screws by gauge... not too sure what that is from.... so 30mm and 50mm are fine but is 4 equivalent to 8g and 5 = 10g.... anyone know???

My assumption was that the "4" and the "5" was the diameter. So, that equates to a #8 and # 10 screw here in North America. If any one has a different idea please let me know .....

Dutchsailor, can you keep me posted of your calculation / estimation? I might be interested to build one myself as well. Where do you live / plan to build your boat? I live in Houten, close to Utrecht (Holland).

Don the FAQ at the website mentions; Some could get sailing for around Euro$6000. I did some calculations but just building the hull will be 6000 euro, I don’t know the prices of the rig, sails, chain plates and safety equipment but my guess is that minimum of 10000 euro is needed.

Ragnar, yes only materials for the hull doing everything self no cnc kit. With buying a cnc kit building a hull will be min 10000 euro, beware that is with our tax of 21%, some of the prices advertised are without tax.

Hi Yes it will be more than that...will change the answers today...we changed it on FB to about Euro$8-10,000....but that is doing eveything yourself!!!! ...especially for micro cuising when you do not have to meet 5.80 CLASS requirements...then it is up to you, tailer, racing sails, safety gear, electronics...etc...doing a Globe 5.80 transocean event could run to $25-30,000. I have a budget of about Euro$10,000 just in Labour as I am too busy to build it myself. You can develope your own list and make you own budgets before you decide to start as it vaies from country to country..no shotcuts...eveything is there...so good luck when you are paying Euro$25,000 for a 3.2mtr solo off the beach foiling sit on day boat, the 5.80 is great value .
