ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

hatch depending on size.

STANDARD RANGE
In addition to the Class Globe offer, Cule hatches are available in 12 standard sizes including square, rectangular and trapezoid shapes. Each hatch is manufactured using our low profile alloy frame which is available in silver or black. These are available to purchase online at www.culemarine.co.nz or direct with Cule Marine.
Hatches are assembled by hand using our unique wedge system to attach the acrylic to the frame maximising the inherent strength and watertightness. Extra-strong hinges and locking telescopic arms make Cule hatches particularly suited for egress purposes as well as for light and ventilation. Hatches can be opened from the outside provided they haven’t been locked from the inside for security. Our hatches will keep you safe and dry for many years! Thanks for sorting this out. I haven't found anything this good for a custom hatch. To me the price premium compared with a standard size hatch would be worth it for the added accessibility into the forepeak, particularly for accessing sails and electric motor storage forward.

Thanks for sharing this - I've been looking for a similar type of service from a company in the EU - but cannot find a single one that makes anything remotely similar! The Cule products look good, even with the astronomical shipping costs (200+ GBP/ hatch) it is still competitive compared to a one-off from the usual suspects here (Lewmar etc).
The shipping cost calculator also seems to indicate a directly linear shipping ocst. i.e. two hatches cost about twice the cost of one. So bulk shipping isn't really going to help unless we get to a pallet quantity that could go via sea. Which seems very unlikely!

By a pallet quantity, I presume you mean buying several in one go?

Don, wondering if you can clarify which direction the bulkhead hatch must open?
The builder's update states "open inwards." In this case inwards depends somewhat which compartment you are in.
I understood it to mean hatch swings into the main compartment (#20 blog shows hinges this side). Mr Martell, of Martell Marine indicates on his blog that he is planning for it to swing into the forepeak. I haven't seen a suitable picture of Trekka yet. so....?

Hi...Yes the hatch Should open INTO the forward compartment as it is most likely to flood forward and then the water pressure is pressing the hatch shut......so from the saloon you open it and swing into the forward compartment....thanks

Thanks. Totally makes sense for watertightness.

I wonder if stays/friction hinges would be strong enough to hinge on the upper edge?
