Interesting Don! Is that how you envision the positioning of the keel of the Globe 5.80, with the possibility of raising it? it's interesting, it means that it can be put into the water relatively easily

Hi..Something similar but lower down and then bolt down...and it completely stuffs the interior...LOL...But all boats are a compromise...and a lift keel is the only thing that works...

Merci Don ! Alors si c’est ce système de quille relevable, cela est intéressant et multiplie les possibilités....

With all the extra time it's taken to get the first boat set up, because of Covid, has there been any progress on a retractable keel plan? Or is any planning for that waiting until further testing of the prototype?

NO at the moment we have no time to consider the lift keel as it will be a NON 5.80 class boat..it will happen later ..but not a priority..

This is my thoughts to overcome a lifting keel and avoid putting the keel on and off. I have a full keel C27 and use a standard car trailer with steel cradle. I added a keel guide, bow stop and a jockey wheel. Once I’m at the ramp, if I have two people I can launch and recover in about 20mins each way. On my own it’s more like 40mins. Most boat ramps your going to sail a boat with a 5’ keel are going to have the length/depth required. I need 8’ of water at the keel to float my C27 (4’ keel). My 80+ year old friend launch’s his Nonsuch 33 faster than me the same way. (Custom trailer) Using torsion axels instead of cross axels means you can put the keel as low as you dare for road clearance. Shouldn’t be any issues with transport height being the 5.8 has pretty low profile maybe 11’ with Mast down on the rails. Max Height BC 13.5’ same with most of Canada, I have not checked USA. Your average semi is 13’ 6” so any where they can go you could take the 5.80.
This is my plan when towing around North American to the east and west coasts If any one can see issues with my plan please point them out, I’d rather have to replan the trailer so I can jack and install the keel at the ramp now then find out I can’t tow it in California like this.
